Every spring we get calls from homeowners that are having trouble with their air conditioners. Here are three things that you can look at before you have to call a technician.
#1 Make sure air conditioner breaker is on and that your outside unit is actually blowing air out the top. The most common thing people think is their air conditioner is working because their fan inside the house is blowing. Your outside unit also has to be running.
#2 Check the batteries in your thermostat. Batteries should be replaced at least once a year. Believe it or not, a dead battery will cause your air conditioning system to not work.
#3 Make sure your furnace filter is clean. All furnace filters should be cleaned at least every 1-3 months. You check if the furnace filter is dirty, you want to remove the filter from the furnace and hold it up to the light – if you can see through it, you are generally okay.
We hope these three tips will help you to prevent a service call. If you have done these three checks and you are still having problems with the air conditioning system, give us a call and we will send one of our certified team members out to make sure we take care of it for you.
